Right to Withdraw from Religious Education (RE)
At Alder Grove, we follow the locally agreed syllabus for Religious Education (RE), which aims to promote understanding, respect, and tolerance of different beliefs and worldviews.
We recognise, however, that parents/carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE if they wish to do so. This includes classroom-based lessons and any specific RE events or activities.
If you are considering withdrawing your child from RE, we encourage you to speak with the Headteacher in the first instance. This provides an opportunity to discuss the content of the curriculum and explore how we approach RE in an inclusive and respectful way.
If you still wish to proceed, you will need to make a formal request in writing.
Please note: alternative provision during withdrawn time may not always be possible, and your child may be supervised elsewhere in school during this time.
