Flourish!

Over the Summer Term 2026, our Year 5 Writing Club created a weekly publication for the children of Alder Grove. This provided them with an opportunity to write a variety of articles on topics of interest to both themselves and their peers.

Introduction from the Year 5 Flourish Journalists:

Ever dreamt of having your very own school magazine? Well look no further! Our magazine style publication is written by a team of talented Year 5 pupils just for you! Our extraordinary magazine is named Flourish! This name was voted for by you and it reflects our school vision of developing deep roots and bearing good fruit – in other words flourishing - for our younger readers, to flourish means to grow and develop in a healthy, successful way. 

Each week, Flourish! Will include 3 different text types. One to inform (which is this one if you haven’t already guessed!) one to entertain (this week it’s a short story based on one of our school values) and one to persuade or explain (this week it’s all about importance of reading.)

So how often will we be distributing this impressive publication? Well, every week your class will receive a fresh, new copy of Flourish! for you to read, love and share We hope you find as much joy in reading Flourish as we do in writing it!
